The Demand That Will Go Unfulfilled
“BAGHDAD (AFP) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Wednesday that Blackwater should leave the country because of the mountain of evidence against the under-fire US security firm.
His comments came amid growing anger among Iraqis that “above-the-law” security contractors are continuing to operate in Iraq while Blackwater is being probed over a deadly shooting 17 days ago.
“I believe the abundance of evidence against it makes it unfit to stay in Iraq,” Maliki told a televised press conference in Baghdad.”
The prime minister of the supposedly sovereign state of Iraq has now declared twice that Blackwater needs to withdraw, and my prediction is that the white house fucks will refuse, and find some way to keep pouring money into the hands of the private mercenary sector. In a previous post I have covered exactly why this will happen. As much as Bush, Condi and Dick would like you to believe Iraq is sovereign, what we say still goes. Which is why congress is working on a bill right now to split Iraq balkin-style. Also, because Blackwater isn’t bound by any rule of law that Iraq might pretend to have, it doesn’t matter how much any Iraqi pisses and moans about it. If we truly respect the nationstate of Iraq, we need to follow some fucking rules for once.
